My Hero

Someone once asked me, who is your hero?
One whom fought for your country or saved a life from ground zero?
The beautiful sunrise that awakes the morning dew?
Or the moon that helps contrast the night sky blue?
No, none of these describe mine
My hero is someone whose worth relates to something that only I can define
As a child, such a great man
Whom always made sure I knew he was my biggest fan
One whom always believed in me
Always teaching lessons, so if darkness came I could see
The hero I am speaking of
Is you father, you gave me such love
Providing me with so many things
Setting me forth into a world to spread my wings
So when asked, who is your hero? I reply...
My hero, My father and that is not a lie.
A truth within that is so deeply believed,
I turn and can thank you for all that I have achieved.
Everyday you taught me the Golden Rule:
Teaching me Kindness, even to those who are cruel.
Helping me to love others and not hate;
So that I can make God proud of such trait.
Teaching me lessons about the good Lord above,
Reminding me each day to endure others with such love.
          You dad, you made my life whole;
The steps you took each day deepened my soul.
And these daddy, are only a few reasons for my developed feeling;
If I were to paint a picture, it would cover a Cathedral ceiling.
Thank you for all that you gave to me...
Throughout life, in my heart, my hero is something that "you" will always be.

Poetry...

A poem I wrote for my mother:

Mother of Love
Blessed am I to be born to a mother of love
Who taught me how to deal with the hardness of life and soar like a dove.
A mother of love respect, dignity and class
A woman of fashion and style, so much her store is named of this sass.
Mothers help your body grow to be nourishing and whole
But you mom, you went beyond and gave the warmth of your soul.
Like an artist you painted a canvas of examples for me
Because you knew the hardships I would one day have to see.
And because you cared mom and proved love to me in so many ways,
I feel special and have strength on even my worst days.
I pray to one day have kids to give them what you gave:
The warmth and touch of a mother that one holds with them until their grave.
Mom, you will never understand or know
The way you have made my life glisten like sun on snow.
Remember the days I faked sick at school for soup and the day with you...
Now the memories are pasted within my heart,
unexplainable is the meaning if one only knew.
So tell me mother of grace, how you present this?
I need an answer, for to one day saturate my daughter with such bliss.
So then, when she grows to be what you made me
She will be able to pass through darkness and have strength to see.
